Waiting…
Private by design
Your files are processed by your own device using WebAssembly and your browser's built-in codecs. Nothing is uploaded, logged or stored.
Fast & offline-ready
No queue, no waiting for a server. Once the page has loaded it even works without a connection.
Works everywhere
Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. No app to install.
When one file is easier than ten
Email services cap attachments and silently block some file types; upload forms for job applications, coursework portals and client extranets often accept a single file; messaging apps turn a dozen separate documents into a scroll of bubbles. Packing everything into one .zip solves all three. The recipient double-clicks it on Windows, macOS, iOS, Android or Linux, and every one of those opens ZIP archives without extra software.
What goes into the archive
Drop any mix of files: PDFs, spreadsheets, photos, source code, fonts, videos. Each becomes a row, and the rows can be reordered so the archive lists files in the sequence you want — useful when you are numbering deliverables or sending chapters of a manuscript. Compression uses DEFLATE, the method every ZIP reader understands. The result is called tinyvert-files.zip, or name.zip when you zipped just one file.
One thing to know: a browser cannot hand a whole folder to the page as a folder, so open it and select the files inside. Up to five files go into a batch for free.
How much smaller will it get?
DEFLATE works by finding repeated patterns, so the saving depends entirely on what you feed it.
File type
Typical saving
Why
Text, CSV, logs, code, SVG
Large, often more than half
Plain text is highly repetitive
BMP, WAV, TIFF
Large
Raw, uncompressed data
DOCX, XLSX, PPTX
Small
Office files are already ZIPs inside
JPG, PNG, MP3, MP4, HEIC
Close to none
Already compressed by their own codec
If the goal is smaller photos rather than a single attachment, compress the images first; zipping a JPG mostly adds a wrapper around it.
Built on your device
The files are read into the browser's memory and the archive is assembled by JavaScript running on your computer or phone. Nothing is uploaded, logged or stored, and the page keeps working offline after your first visit thanks to a service worker. That makes it suitable for contracts, medical records and anything else you would rather not place on a stranger's server. Because input and output both sit in RAM, very large files are limited by your device's memory; a batch of documents takes a few seconds, while a multi-gigabyte video is better handled on a desktop.
After zipping
Send the archive by email, chat or a file-request link, or use the Share button on phones that support it.
Received an archive from someone else? Unzip opens ZIP, TAR and TAR.GZ in the same way, with no install.
Several PDFs that belong together are often better as one document than as a ZIP — try Merge PDF.
Photos too big for an upload limit? Compress Image shrinks them before you bundle them.
How to zip files online — step by step
1
Drop the files you want to bundle into the drop zone, or click "Choose files" and select several at once.
2
Reorder the rows with the arrows or by dragging if the order inside the archive matters.
3
Zipping starts automatically; watch the progress bar — the archive is built entirely in your browser.
4
Download tinyvert-files.zip, or name.zip when you zipped a single file.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a limit on file size?
There is no fixed number. The files and the finished archive both live in your browser's memory, so large files are limited by your device's memory. Documents, photos and ordinary downloads are no problem; multi-gigabyte video is better zipped on a desktop than a phone.
Can I zip a whole folder?
Browsers cannot pass a folder to the page as a folder. Open it and select the files inside instead — they are packed as individual entries in the order shown.
Will the ZIP open on a Mac, iPhone or Android?
Yes. Tinyvert writes a standard ZIP with DEFLATE compression, the method every operating system, phone and archive utility reads. No special software is needed on the other end.
Why did my photos barely shrink?
JPG, HEIC, MP4 and MP3 files are already compressed by their own codecs, so DEFLATE has little left to squeeze. Zipping them still bundles everything into one attachment. To make the images themselves smaller, run them through Compress Image first.
What is the archive called?
Several files produce tinyvert-files.zip. A single file produces name.zip, taking the name of the file you dropped.
How many files can I zip at once?
Up to five per batch for free. Tinyvert Pro, a one-time US$9 purchase, removes the limit and the ads.
