Waiting…
Private by design
Your files are processed by your own device using WebAssembly and your browser's built-in codecs. Nothing is uploaded, logged or stored.
Fast & offline-ready
No queue, no waiting for a server. Once the page has loaded it even works without a connection.
Works everywhere
Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. No app to install.
Reasons to mute a video
Wind, traffic or a chatty crowd spoil the sound of an otherwise good travel clip.
A screen recording caught a notification ping or a private conversation in the background.
Background music triggers copyright claims when the clip is posted to YouTube, Instagram or TikTok.
A website hero video or product loop will autoplay silently anyway, so the audio track is dead weight.
You plan to lay a voice-over or soundtrack on top in another app and want a clean start.
What happens to the file
A video file is a container, such as MP4 or MKV, holding separate video and audio streams. Tinyvert opens the container, copies the video stream exactly as it is, leaves every audio track behind, and writes a new container of the same type. Nothing is decoded or re-encoded, so there is no quality loss and no waiting for an export: the job finishes as fast as the file can be read, and the status line reads "copied". Files with several audio tracks, such as an MKV with multiple languages, lose all of them in one pass. The file gets a little smaller too, though rarely by much, because audio is usually a small share of a video's size.

Save the sound first
Muting is permanent for that file, so if the audio has any value, extract it before you discard it. Video to MP3 pulls the track into an MP3 on the same device, and our guide to extracting audio from a video covers the other formats. Tinyvert does not add or replace audio; for that you need an editor such as iMovie, CapCut or DaVinci Resolve, which will happily import the silent clip.
Nothing leaves your device
The video is read into the browser's memory and processed by code running on your computer or phone. It is never uploaded, logged or stored, and after the first visit the page works without a connection. Drop up to five videos at once, watch each progress bar, then download them one by one or as a locally built ZIP; on supported phones a Share button hands the result to other apps. Large files are limited by your device's memory. The tool runs in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Safari 17 or newer and Firefox 130 or newer. To shorten the clip as well, Trim Video uses the same lossless copy, and Compress Video can shrink it afterwards.
How to remove audio from a video — step by step
1
Drop up to five videos into the drop zone or click "Choose files"; MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, TS and M4V are accepted.
2
There is nothing to configure: click Convert and every audio track is discarded while the video stream is copied.
3
The status line reads "copied" when done; download the silent video in its original format or share it to another app.
Frequently asked questions
Does removing the audio change the video quality?
No. The video stream is copied exactly as it is, with no decoding or re-encoding, so the picture is identical to the original down to the last bit.
How much smaller will the file be?
Usually only a few per cent. A stereo AAC track runs to roughly 1–2 MB per minute, while the video stream of a phone recording is tens of times larger. To really shrink a video, use Compress Video.
Can I keep the audio as a separate file?
Yes, but do it first: Video to MP3 extracts the soundtrack from the same video. Once the muted copy is made, the audio is gone from that file.
Can I replace the sound with music or a voice-over?
Not here. Tinyvert only removes tracks. Mute the video, then add new audio in an editor such as iMovie, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve or Clipchamp.
Which video formats are supported?
MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, TS and M4V. The muted file keeps the same format and extension as the one you dropped in.
What if the video has several audio tracks?
All of them are discarded in one pass, which is handy for MKV files with multiple languages or commentary tracks.
