Waiting…
Private by design
Your files are processed by your own device using WebAssembly and your browser's built-in codecs. Nothing is uploaded, logged or stored.
Fast & offline-ready
No queue, no waiting for a server. Once the page has loaded it even works without a connection.
Works everywhere
Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. No app to install.
Two ways to split
The Split menu offers two modes, and they suit different jobs.
Every page into its own PDF turns a 12-page file into twelve single-page PDFs. Use it when each page is a separate thing: a stack of invoices scanned in one go, certificates printed to one file, or handouts that need to go to different people. "Download all as ZIP" collects them in one archive.
Extract a page range creates one new PDF containing only the pages you list in the Pages field, such as 2-5, 8. Use it to lift a chapter, an appendix or a single signed page out of a longer document.
Pulling one thing out of a bigger file
The long PDF is rarely what anyone actually wants. An accountant asks for the March invoice, not the whole year's statement; a tutor wants chapter four of a textbook; a client needs the signature page rather than the forty pages of contract around it; a reviewer receives a 200-page thesis and reads one chapter. Splitting gives each person exactly their part, keeps attachments small and avoids sharing pages they were never meant to see.
Writing a page range
Page numbers are the ones your PDF viewer shows, counted from 1, which can differ from the numbers printed on the page when a document has a cover or a roman-numbered preface. Separate single pages and ranges with commas, and use a hyphen for a run of pages:

Pages stay exactly as they were
Splitting copies pages rather than re-rendering them, so text remains selectable, vector drawings stay sharp, embedded fonts and images are untouched and nothing is recompressed. The original file on your device is not modified; the new PDFs are written alongside it. If you want a page as a picture instead, for a slide or a message, PDF to JPG renders it, and PDF to Text pulls out the words. Changed your mind and want the parts back together, perhaps in a new order? Merge PDF reassembles them.
Private and quick
The split happens inside your browser tab. The PDF is read into memory, the chosen pages are copied into new documents by an open-source PDF library on your own device, and nothing is uploaded or stored. That makes it suitable for payslips, legal bundles and medical records. Up to five PDFs can be processed in one batch with a progress bar for each, downloads are available per file or as a locally built ZIP, and very large documents are limited only by the memory your device has to spare.
How to split a pdf — step by step
1
Drop the PDF into the drop zone or click "Choose files".
2
Open the Split menu and choose "Every page into its own PDF" or "Extract a page range".
3
For a range, type the pages you want into the Pages field, for example 2-5, 8.
4
When the split finishes, download the new PDF, or every single-page file as a ZIP.
Frequently asked questions
How do I extract just one page?
Choose "Extract a page range" in the Split menu and type the page number, for example 7, into the Pages field. You get a one-page PDF.
Can I pull out several separate ranges at once?
Yes. Pages and ranges can be combined with commas, such as 2-5, 8, 11-12. Every listed page is copied into one new PDF.
What does "Every page into its own PDF" produce?
One single-page PDF per page, so a 12-page file becomes twelve files. "Download all as ZIP" bundles them into one archive built in your browser.
Does splitting reduce the quality?
No. Pages are copied as they are, not re-rendered, so text stays selectable, fonts and images are untouched and nothing is recompressed.
Is my original PDF changed?
No. The file on your device is left exactly as it was; the split produces new PDFs alongside it.
How do I put the pages back together?
Merge PDF combines them again, in whatever order you choose.
