Tinyvert is a set of file converters — images, audio, video, PDFs, spreadsheets and archives — that do their work inside your web browser instead of on somebody else's computer. Convert an iPhone HEIC photo to JPG, shrink a 9 MB picture down to something you can email, resize a folder of images to the same width, or turn a stack of scans into a single PDF. No account, no upload, no watermark.
Why we built it
Search for "convert HEIC to JPG" and you will find dozens of sites that ask you to upload your photos. Read their terms and you will often find that they may keep those files for hours or days, share them with "processing partners", or reserve broad rights over anything you submit. For a holiday snap that may not matter. For a passport scan, a medical image, a contract, a photo of your child or an unreleased product shot, it very much does.
Modern browsers no longer need a server for this. They ship with fast image encoders, they run WebAssembly at near-native speed, and they can hold a 50 MB photo in memory without breaking a sweat. Tinyvert is built on that idea: the converter comes to your file, not the other way round.
How it works
When you drop a file on a tool page, the browser hands the page raw bytes from your disk. HEIC and HEIF images are decoded by libheif, an open-source decoder compiled to WebAssembly. Everything else is decoded by the browser itself. The pixels are drawn onto an off-screen canvas, re-encoded in the format and quality you chose, and handed back to you as a download. ZIP archives are assembled locally with JSZip, and PDFs with jsPDF.
None of those steps involve a network request. You can open a tool page, switch to aeroplane mode, and convert a hundred photos. The only things our server ever sends you are the page, the code and the stylesheet.
How it stays free
Because there is no server-side processing, running Tinyvert costs almost nothing: it is a static site on a free hosting tier. Modest advertising covers the domain and the occasional coffee. If you would rather not see ads, or you need to convert more than a handful of files at a time, Tinyvert Pro is a one-time US$9 purchase with a lifetime licence. There is no subscription and no upsell beyond that one page.
